Severe T-Storm Warning


Impacts of this storm are staying down around Smith Lake, Brushy Pond, Bremen, Arkadelphia, back toward Arley and Curry. Does not affect city of Cullman, Hanceville, certainly well South of Vinemont. Only a small part of Cullman County is affected by this, and folks north of there outside the warning polygon have no worries.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has issued a


* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...

  Southwestern Cullman County in north central Alabama...


* Until 700 PM CDT.


* At 633 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Smith Dam, or

  10 miles southeast of Arley, moving southeast at 35 mph.


  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.


  SOURCE...Radar indicated.


  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage

           to roofs, siding, and trees.


* Locations impacted include...

  Arkadelphia, Wilburn and Smith Lake.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a

building.


If on or near Smith Lake, get away from the water and move indoors

or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles

from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close

enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now!  Do not

be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of southwestern Cullman

County through 715 PM CDT...


At 622 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near

Curry, or near Arley, moving southeast at 20 mph.


HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.


SOURCE...Radar indicated.


IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around

         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is

         possible.


Locations impacted include...

Colony, Wilburn, Smith Lake, Bremen, Arkadelphia and Black Bottom.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.


Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
