Severe T-Storm Warning (Huntsville)

Sure is a busy night, this one includes city of Huntsville. Will post updates below as needed.

11:47 - And let's experiment with posting these Spanish alerts. Why not . . . getting into the graveyard shift. Swing out, have fun, but also take this weather seriously. This stuff ahead of the main squall line is sort of overperforming tonight.

Large hail greater than quarter-size is expected with this storm that looks to at least clip the city of Huntsville. And winds may gust up to 60 mph.

So I'd definitely be inside, away from windows. And if you can, be in a sturdy house (rather than a mobile home) on the ground floor, sort of near the center of the house, again, staying away from any windows. Just in case of any wind damage, be down low, be away from windows, should be all right.

11:54 PM - And this warning has now been extended Northeast, for Northern Huntsville up to Huntland in Tennessee. So this affects far Western Jackson County and parts of Southern Lincoln and Franklin Counties across the TN border.

And again here is the Spanish posting of the warning from Twitter.

12:04 AM Friday March 15th - The warning goes for about 10 more minutes. I'd stay inside away from windows in a sturdy house if you can, and consider being on the lower floor if you have an upstairs, just to play it safe.

Meanwhile the main squall line has made it as far as Memphis.

12:18 AM - All right, and now all the warnings have been let go as storms have weakened. Those tan boxes are Special Weather Statements for storms that may produce small hail and gusty winds, but are under severe limits.

Another round of severe thunderstorms is possible within the next six hours or so as the squall line approaches. So some people may have a rough drive in to work. We are getting the leftovers of this system, but still, one tree blown down in the road is one too many, if people are not aware of it.

12:44 - And just when you thought it was safe to go back to sleep, here is a storm affecting Hytop showing signs of severe winds/hail.

1:02 AM - Warning reissued for places like Skyline and Stevenson. Another severe thunderstorm up around Mount Pleasant in Tennessee. The squall line is well into Tennessee now. The storm mode has turned out to be really messy with this system.

1:19 - And this storm is hanging together, staying at severe limits.

Meanwhile the main line of storms should be entering Northwest Alabama by about 2 AM.

1:48 AM - Warning was allowed to expire on time. Now we'll see if this line does anything else later this morning.

2:17 AM - The main line of storms is now entering Northwest Alabama. As of right now, no storms are severe, but some of them do have a lot of lightning. And they bear watching in case they intensify.
