The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a


* Flash Flood Warning for...

  Southwestern Mobile County in southwestern Alabama...


* Until 630 PM CDT.


* At 331 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated

  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between

  3 and 8 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of

  2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is

  ongoing or expected to begin shortly.


  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms

           producing flash flooding.


  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.


  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,

           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.


* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Tillmans Corner, Grand Bay, Bayou La Batre, Coden, Alabama Port,

  Dees, Meadow Lake, Dawes, Delchamps, Mann and Hollingers Island.

AND IRVINGTON...


...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM CDT THIS

AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHWESTERN BALDWIN AND SOUTHWESTERN MOBILE

COUNTIES...


At 320 PM CDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy

rain across the warned area. Between 8 and 13 inches of rain have

fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are possible in

the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. A foot and a

half of water over Highway 98 in and around Magnolia Springs.

Automated rain gauges have measured upwards of 12 inches of rain in

the area. Vehicle rescues have been reported in Foley. Water has

been reported entering buildings on Dauphin Island Parkway. US 90

near Alabama 16 and McDonald Road closed in both directions.

Numerous roads are reported impassable in southern Mobile County.


This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Magnolia Springs, Foley,

Theodore, and Irvington. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

         flash flooding.

IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER

         GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water

         crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses.


Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Foley, Theodore, Point Clear, Magnolia Springs, Bon Secour,

  Battles Wharf, Barnwell, Faustinas, Mon Louis, Sunny Cove,

  Smithport, Bayleys Corner, Turkey Branch, Belle Fontaine, River

  Park, Delchamps, South Orchard, Marlow, Fowl River and Kirewakra.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and

life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are

fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

* Until 545 PM CDT.


* At 243 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing

  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain

  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are

  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected

  to begin shortly.


  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.


  SOURCE...Radar.


  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban

           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as

           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.


* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Dauphin Island, Fort Morgan, Gulf

EVENING FOR SOUTHERN JACKSON COUNTY...


At 345 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated

thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3

and 5 inches of rain have fallen this afternoon. Including the

earlier thunderstorms from this morning, rainfall totals of 6 to 9

inches are estimated in southeastern Jackson County. Additional

rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area.

Significant flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.


HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing

         flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,

         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
