Please note that tornadoes can spin up quickly from thunderstorms like this and that winds capable of damage (even if in a straight line) have been confirmed numerous times with this squall line of storms!
Also it includes Blount and Jeffersion Counties in the severe thunderstorm warning, it's just a separate one since they are covered by Birmingham office, separate polygon than this issuance describes.
And we still have a Tornado Warning for Madison, Jackson, Lincoln, and Franklin (TN) Counties. The reason it covers such a large area there is that there have been numerous circulations come and go. It's not like one confirmed tornado that can be singled out. This is a messy situation but STAY SHELTERED if in any of these Tornado or Severe Thunderstorm polygons, please.
12:56 AM - Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin Counties; also Wayne and Lawrence Counties in TN have been cleared from the Tornado Watch. The severe weather threat is over for those places.
1 AM - Emergency management reports a tree down at 1718 Highway AL-91 in Colony in Cullman County. Probably happened just two or three minutes ago.
1:02 - Places like Estill Springs, Winchester, Hytop, Skyline, Stevenson . . . stay sheltered and respect this enhanced risk for a tornado to spin up in these polygons.
1:06 - But it's really important to remember that this whole squall line is dangerous and showing signs of producing damaging wind gusts. Those can cause injury or even death if sensible precautions are not taken.
At minimum I'd be inside, away from windows and electrical stuff if you are under any of these Severe Thunderstorm Warning polygons (highlighted in yellow above)
Nevermind tornado warning for Albertville, going to post that separately. No time for radar image here.
