For the PAINT ROCK RIVER...including Woodville...Minor flooding is

forecast.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.


Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the

dangers of flooding.

    It will then fall below flood stage Sunday afternoon.

  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of

    17.0 feet on 01/05/1972.

    morning to 15.3 feet early Sunday morning. It will then fall

    morning. It will then fall again but remain above flood

    stage.

* IMPACTS...At 122.0 feet, Cattle in low-lying areas of Southern

  Pickens County should be moved to higher ground. Cattle are cutoff

  in lowlands of Southern Pickens County at stages above 122 feet.

  At 128.0 feet, Cattle in the area should be moved to higher

  ground. Flooding of some cabins and camps along the river can be

  expected.


* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 8:00 PM CST Thursday the stage was 123.4 feet.

  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours

    ending at 8:00 PM CST Thursday was 123.4 feet.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 124.9

    feet Saturday evening. It will then fall below flood stage

    Monday afternoon.

  - Flood stage is 122.0 feet.

  - At 8:45 PM EST Thursday the stage was 8.9 feet and rising.

  - Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage just after

    midnight tonight to 14.5 feet tomorrow morning. It will then

    fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon to 7.3 feet

    early Saturday afternoon. It will rise above flood stage

    again early Sunday morning to 16.2 feet Sunday morning. It

    will then fall below flood stage again Sunday evening.

* WHERE...Sweetwater Creek near Austell.


* WHEN...From late tonight to late Saturday morning.


* IMPACTS...At 10 feet, Flood Stage is reached. Minor flooding

  occurs in the woodlands and fields upstream and downstream from

  the gage near the Interstate 20 bridge. Portions of a paintball

  playing field just downstream of the bridge begin to flood.

  Athletic fields in the Woodrow Wilson Park on Mount Vernon Road

  begin to flood due to water backing up in ditches.


* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 9:30 PM EST Thursday the stage was 9.4 feet and rising.

  - Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage late tonight

    to 10.6 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood

    stage early Saturday morning to 6.8 feet Sunday morning. It

    will rise to 8.8 feet early Monday morning. It will then fall

    again and remain below flood stage.

  - Flood stage is 10 feet.
