Today, Sunday, will just be mostly cloudy and breezy, pretty cold, temperatures hovering in the 50's before starting to fall through the 40's.
Then by Monday morning we'll have a Low way down at 24-25, a sunny day Monday, George Washington's birthday, the father of our country, the High temperature getting up to about 45-46.
Tuesday looks mostly sunny during the day, a High in the lower 50's and a Low in the upper 20's.
Tuesday night into Wednesday, rain showers are likely, and they could very well mix with snow. We'll start Wednesday right around freezing, about the lower 30's, and then we'll warm to about 40 or so, maybe lower 40's. This is a situation we'll have to keep an eye on. Snow is likely up across the Tennessee border with this, and Northwest Alabama may also have a really decent snow potential, especially around the Shoals. However, even down in places like Cullman, a rain/snow mix is a good chance at least Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and again Wednesday night. It is too early to speculate about accumulation amounts, but some accumulation is likely at least up on the Tennessee side of this.
Through today (Sunday) and Monday, forecasters (including me) will be trying to analyze this situation on the Alabama side as well. And see if accumulations are a decent possibility down here in places like Cullman, Double Springs, or Jasper, which is the main focus of this blog, even though I still sometimes look out for the whole Huntsville market like I did when living in Huntsville on a college campus. Like I did tonight.
Thursday looks mostly sunny with a High in the mid-30's and Low in the upper teens.
Friday looks similar but the High about 40 or so, and the Low possibly a few degrees colder, maybe more toward the mid-teens than upper-teens.
Also mostly clear skies for next Saturday with a High in the mid-40's, Low in the lower 20's.
Sunday we might be looking at upper 40's for the High, Low in the mid-to-upper-20's. Skies should stay mostly sunny.
So no more severe weather any time soon as far as this kind we had tonight, but winter is definitely not over, in terms of the cold or even in terms of chances at seeing some snow.
Yesterday evening I posted a much more detailed forecast for the week ahead. Just ignore the stuff about tonight's storms since they've already blown through, and I think the rest of it holds up until I can post another one. There's the link. Good night.
